Pakistan vs World Hockey XI is a series of two Exhibition matches will take place in January 2018. It will be organized by Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF). First game will be played on 19th January 2018 at Abdul Sattar Edhi Hockey Stadium, Karachi. Second match will be contested on 21st January 2018 in Lahore. PHF is hopeful that the arrival of Hockey superstars from around the world will open the doors of international hockey to Pakistan. It will also provide a much-needed boost to the national sport in the country.
World XI Hockey team will include players from Netherlands, Spain, Australia, Germany, Belgium and Argentina. Hockey World Eleven team visiting Pakistan comprises of Rob Reckers, Roderick Weusthof, Philip Meulenbroek and Hidde Turksta from Netherlands. Santi Freixa, Juan Escarre, Roc Oliva and David Alegre from Spain will also be part of it. Benni Wess and Justus Scharowsky from Germany are also included. Augustin Bugallo, Deigo Paz and Nahuel Salis from Argentina are also part of the side. Grant Schubert from Australia and Emmanuel Stockbroekx from Belgium are also visiting members.
On the sidelines of the World XI’s visit to Pakistan, there will be Hall of Fame awards ceremony for legends of the sport of Hockey. Veterans of the game like Paul Litjens, Floris Jan Bovelander and Rob Lathouwers from Netherlands will be honoured. Don Prior and Ric Charlsworth from Australia will also be awarded. PHF has said that "Hall of Fame" function will be held in Karachi. A number of world famous foreign and home players will be inducted.
