Misaq-e-Ishq, an event featuring Ali Sethi will be held on 17 January 2017 at Ali Auditorium, Ali Institute of Education in Lahore. This evening is dedicated to Music, Poetry and the Arts. Misaq-e-Ishq - The Covenant of Love will present Music and Poetry recital by the famed musician.
Misaq e Ishq will also play host to the introduction of the inaugural Lahore Biennale 01 by Artistic Director Rashid Rana. He says about the Lahore Biennale 2017: "This biennale will set out to challenge the parameters of both the biennale format and the discipline of art itself, seeking to imagine possible futures and potentials in subversive yet expansive ways. Further, by attempting to engage residents of the city directly, this biennale aims to create a network where participation and power are diffused, creating a horizontally, as opposed to vertically, structured system."
Misaq-e-Ishq will present music-and-poetry recital around the Sufi ideal of Love. This ensemble is spanning many regions, languages and eras. It touches upon the works of regional masters and Sufi visionaries Amir Khusrow, Shams Sabzwari, Bulleh Shah, and Shah Abdul Latif.
Ali Asani, Professor of Indo-Muslim Religion and Cultures at Harvard University will also participate in Misaq-e-Ishq. Lahore Biennale Foundation, the LUMS School of Education and the Harvard South Asia Institute are the organizers. Donations will be used to promote the arts and education. This event is supported by the Institute for Policy Reforms.
